Description

So lately I have been wrapping my brain around Blender and Unity, and it has been quite a crash course for me over the past few weeks. Modeling, texturing, mapping, scripting, lighting, baking, tweaking, - lots of super new stuff for me. Before Tuesday, I had no idea what a draw call was. Now, I'm studying them like I should have done for that high school math test I totally flunked over a decade ago...

These are screengrabs from a project I am working on. Terrain was built in Sculptris, the temple in Blender and the scene put together in Unity, designed to ultimately run on iOS and Android handhelds, hence the lack of detail for now until I get a better understanding of texturing and polygon reduction.

I've been really jazzed about this whole endeavor, I'm learning a lot and feeling pretty good about reviving my long lost childhood dream of not just playing the games I love, but making them, too! Maybe it will happen one day, or maybe it will end up in the pile of procrastination I've built for myself. Let's see. Meow :3

Oh my, I would be beyond thrilled for you to make games, too!! I hope to keep seeing more work like this from you.

It's amazing what wonders lighting works - the first scene is haunting, but I love the sense of immanence and expectation that the low sun adds in the second version. What's around the bend? :)
